President Trump Welcomes USS Arizona Survivors to the White House

On Friday, President Donald J. Trump welcomed and met with several survivors of the USS Arizona Pearl Harbor attack and their families in the Oval Office. These brave World War II Veterans, who are making their first trip to Washington D.C., paid tribute and respect to those honored at Arlington National Cemetery, and the World War II, Korean, and Vietnam Memorials.

President Trump praised the heroes, stating, “Each of them has a harrowing story of courage to share. They tell us of the American spirit under fire, and of the will of our people to defeat threats to our nation and to the civilized world.”

The survivors presented a piece of the USS Arizona, a signed USS Arizona hat, and a USS Arizona survivor’s coin to President Trump. They also presented a USS Arizona Wreckage bracelet to First Lady Melania Trump. After the meeting in the Oval Office, they took a tour of the White House.

“…nothing can take the place of meeting heroes like those with us today. In them we see the strength of our nation, the courage of our men and women in uniform, the resolve to never accept failure, and the belief that justice will always triumph and that the America — and the America that we know and love – the United States – will always prevail,” said President Trump.
