CAMDEN – President Donald J. Trump apparently is a fan of Campbell’s Soup.

The president, who twice this year publicly praised the product, has invited Camden-based Campbell Soup Co. to participate in a White House event Monday.

Campbell will represent New Jersey at a 3 p.m. event “that highlights and celebrates American-Made products and encourages other companies to manufacture their products in the United States,” according to a White House statement.

The exhibit also reflects Trump’s “important message of putting America First,” the statement said.

Campbell will display a range of the company’s products, spokesman Thomas Hushen said Sunday.

“We’re highlighting Campbell’s condensed soups, Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies, Pace salsa, Prego pasta sauce and Pepperidge Farm bread,” Hushen said.

Trump complimented Campbell’s best-known product when the South Jersey firm’s top executive introduced herself at a Feb. 23 White House meeting.

“I’m Denise Morrison from the Campbell Soup Co.,” said Campbell’s president and CEO.

“Good soup,” Trump responded.

He repeated the praise the next day in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland.

“Yesterday, I had 29 of the biggest business leaders in the world in my office – Caterpillar tractor, Campbell’s Soup,” Trump said, according to a transcript provided by the White House.

“We had everybody.  We had everybody.  I like Campbell’s Soup.”

Morrison serves on Trump’s Manufacturing Jobs Initiative but her company has split with the president on some issues.

After Trump announced in June the United States would exit the Paris Climate Accord, Campbell expressed support for “the goals” of the international agreement.

“Campbell will continue to take action to address climate change,” said the firm, which describes itself as a global food company.

Campbell broke ground in May on a 4.4-megawatt solar array project intended to provide 20 percent of the power for its headquarters.

Trump is to be accompanied at the 3 p.m. event by Vice President Mike Pence, members of his Cabinet and members of Congress, according to the White House.

Campbell manufacturing and government affairs representatives will also attend, Hushen said.
