Whitehouse leads Akron RubberDucks past Binghamton

AKRON, Ohio — Left-hander Matt Whitehouse stifled the Rumble Ponies, throwing seven scoreless innings to lead the RubberDucks to a 4-0 win over Binghamton on Sunday at Canal Park.

The RubberDucks took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, with a run scoring on a throwing error by Binghamton’s Tomas Nido and on a single by Taylor Murphy. It was one of two errors by Binghamton in the first inning.

Bobby Bradley made the score 4-0 in the fifth inning with a two-run double to center field.

D.J. Brown and Cameron Hill closed out the game for Akron, each pitching a scoreless inning.

Akron won five of seven games on its homestand and is 61-58 in the Class AA Eastern League.
